About the challenge

AI4Science (or artificial intelligence for science) is an initiative first proposed at Caltech that aims to bring together AI researchers with experts from other disciplines to push modern AI tools into every area of science and engineering.

DeepVerse, together with Bota Bio, Chemical.AI, and Foreseen Biotech jointly organize the first nationwide AI4Science Hackathon for students and researchers, providing a cross-disciplinary platform to foster innovations, where you can present your ideas and meet other brilliant minds.

Challenges

A three-week online hackathon

We aim to support students and faculties on early stage research that leverages machine learning technologies to solve real world problems, and promote cross-disciplinary collaboration across academia, industry, and the public sector.

Have a research or science problem that is addressable by AI?

The AI 4 Science hackathon will be an opportunity to pitch your ideas and you will get:
  - One-to-one session with PhDs/Researchers from globally renowned universities (Cambridge, MIT, etc.)
  - Engaging panel discussions
  - Co-working space*
*The co-working space will be arranged later at DeepVerse's Shanghai office or Nest.Bio Lab's Shanghai/Beijing office when it is safe to do so.

Participant team must also register their interest via the website https://ai4science.io  and fill out the registration form

Requirements

What to Build

Anything aimed at pushing the advancement of science. Often, AI is about an architecture solving a hard-to-human problem in an efficient one! We want to see more around machine learning technologies to solve a real problem in any discipline of natural science and really just be as interesting and creative as possible!

What to Submit

  1. A project introduction (word / pdf), including Inspiration, What it does, How you built it, Challenges, Accomplishments that you are proud of, What’s next.
  2. The project code (git repository)
  3. A 5-10 min video presentation with slides deck and/or demo (YouTube link, which can be privately listed).
